WEEK 10 HIGHLIGHTS 🌿 WEEK 10 HIGHLIGHTS 🌿
Week 9 highlights 🤩 Week 9 highlights 🤩
BOYS! Summer Session Applications are still open! BOYS! Summer Session Applications are still open! We asked the boys some questions and here is a few of their responses for why and what they got out of makanalani…

-what are your favorite memories so far?
“surfing, serving, and working with Mikey and Kimo on the farm”

-what made you apply?
“I always felt that a man who will want a family and to treat his wife good has to believe in something higher or believe in faith and I realize I didn’t have that so I wanted to challenge myself in getting there by applying”

-what was your goal coming in? How are you achieving it?
“My goal was to become a more disciplined individual that can praise God in all circumstances. Through my service at Makanalani God taught me discipline which I can now use in my daily ministry”

-most valuable lesson you’ve learned from makanalani?
“the most valuable lesson I have learned is how to be more selfless and not doing things for my benefit, but for others”

-how is your relationship with the guys in the house?
“great! we all get along super well and challenge each other to grow and be the best men we can be”

-what as a guy is the hardest and easiest of being at makanalani?
“hardest part, not turning to the world when it gets hard and being a light when you are feeling down and in the dark. easiest part, finding outfits and wearing slippers and boardies all the time”

-what advice would you give a future guy intern?
“come into the experience with an open mind and ready to serve your community and others around you”

-why should guys apply for summer session?
“apply for summer session because the island is beautiful in the summer and this is a once in a lifetime experience where you will leave changed for the better personally and in your faith”

Meals together here at the alohalani house are som Meals together here at the alohalani house are some of the best times for us interns to sit, be still, and have some of our best conversations! We also have groups of cooking and cleaning crews serving one another to feed the house and keep it clean. Ohana days are the best on friday mornings where a special breakfast is made and we all get together to laugh and dance and build deeper relationship with one another💌
